About Us
SERVICE, SAFETY, COMMUNITY
Loess Hills Nordic
The Loess Hills Nordic Ski Patrol (LHNSP) takes its name after the unique geological formation found at the Nature Center, the Loess Hills
It’s about Service
When founded by veteran Alpine Patrollers in the fall of 2016, its mission was to provide services to the Nature Center and the community. The patrol supports the efforts of Hitchcock Nature Center and the opportunities to serve the community to better the outdoor environment, educate, and enhance the community’s experiences at Hitchcock Nature Center.
It’s about Safety
From its inception the patrol has been focused on Safety. The patrol conducts training not only for the patrol, but for the Nature Center and other organizations. At the nature center the patrol teaches first aid, winter survival, and search and rescue. It is not just about skiing; the LHNSP provides services in all seasons and must be prepared to do it all safely.
It’s about Community
The patrol works to foster the sense of community within the patrol, Hitchcock Nature Center, and the local community. The LHNSP is part of the larger ski patrol community as part of the Rocky Mountain Division of the National Ski Patrol.
It’s about so much more than skiing
At its core, LHNSP is a group of outdoor enthusiasts coming together to better the outdoor environment and to educate and enhance the community’s experiences at Hitchcock Nature Center.
